Abstract
Feeding intolerance is a common problem in neonates, especially in the premature infant. Developmental patterns of gastrointestinal motility have been described in both animals and humans. This article reviews the normal physiology of gastrointestinal motility, its development an d measurement, as well as current therapies for gastrointestinal dysmo tility.
