Abstract
In order to study the normal vibrations of the UO2(acac)(2) complex, p rincipally in the low frequency region (600-40 cm(-1)), the Fourier tr ansform infrared and Raman (solid state) spectra are measured. The fun damental UO2-acetylacetonate ligand vibrational modes of the solid sta te spectra are tentatively assigned, mainly on the basis of intensitie s of the bands and correlations with reported spectra of metal acetyla cetonate compounds. The present assignments are used as the initial ba sic set of vibrational frequencies in each symmety type to carry out a normal coordinate analysis.
