M. Vianello et R. Zanovello, ON SOME CONNECTIONS BETWEEN WELL-POSEDNESS AND GENERAL-PROPERTIES OF NUMERICAL-METHODS, Zeitschrift fur angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 75(3), 1995, pp. 237-241
Some new connections between well-posedness of problems and general fe
atures of the associated numerical methods are proposed. In particular
, sufficient conditions for uniqueness and continuous dependence on da
ta of the solutions to a problem are introduced, exploiting directly n
umerical properties as stability and consistency of a suitable discret
ization procedure. The results are proved in the framework of a genera
l theory of convergence for numerical methods. Illustrative examples a
re presented.
