The Henri Feulard Library at the Saint-Louis Teaching Hospital, Paris,
France, focuses on dermatology and sexually transmitted diseases (STD
s). It was created in 1886 and is now jointly run by its owner, an ass
ociation founded by the Paris Public Hospital system, and by the Frenc
h Society for Dermatology and STDs. Its role expands beyond that of a
hospital library since it is accessible to dermatologists working in h
ospitals and private practice. It possesses a host of modern and histo
rical books and receives 150 periodicals, including 72 dermatology and
SDT journals. Numerous books are acquired on a regular basis. The lib
rary is computerized and, with the assistance of the Pierre Fabre comp
any, has developed a dermatology treatment database accessible via the
telephone.
