Application of ATP-bioluminescence technique For monitoring of surface
contamination in a catering facility has been investigated. Commercia
l diagnostic reagents and bioluminometer have been used, giving result
s in a very short time. Microbial contamination determined by plate co
unt: has shown to be correlated, even if in a non-fully linear way, to
instrumental measurements. Obtained data have given a general picture
about hygiene conditions of the examined surfaces, to which the prese
nce of microorganisms and tissular residuals have contributed.
