C. Delagarza et A. Weillfassina, METHOD OF ANALYSIS OF RISK MANAGEMENT DIF FICULTIES IN A COLLECTIVE ACTIVITY - RAILWAYS MAINTENANCE, Safety science, 18(3), 1995, pp. 157-180
From a practical point of view, the aim of the analysis method ''Risk
management modalities'' was to expose the different dynamics of the ac
cidents had by track workers. The principal risk of this job is being
''struck by train''. Different organisational levels of a collective a
ctivity and the occupational hazards disturbing the scenario of the si
tuation, are described. These occupational hazards, alone or in intera
ction, reduce the robustness of the system and the operator's adaptabi
lity so that they can lead them to loose the control of danger. Referi
ng to Hale and Glendon's model (1987), ''Behaviour in the face of dang
er'', and comparing the accidents scenarii, five ''schema-types'' have
been drawn out. They are characterised by different connections betwe
en the work organisational phases, the hazardous circumstances, and th
e difficulties of risk management and the control of danger that they
generate. Exemples of the ''schema-types'' are given.
