As. Kharitonov et al., MECHANISM OF FEZSM-5 MILLING AND ITS EFFECT ON THE CATALYTIC PERFORMANCE IN BENZENE TO PHENOL OXIDATION, Zeolites, 15(3), 1995, pp. 253-258
The mechanism of milling ZSM-5 ferrisilicate analog in the centrifugal
planetary mill was studied by means of adsorption, electron microscop
y, and X-ray diffraction. The process of zeolite lattice destruction o
beyed a first-order kinetic equation, The 40-min milling resulted in a
practically complete amorphization of the material and disappearence
of its catalytic activity in oxidation of benzene to phenol by dinitro
gen monoxide. The reaction was shown to proceed in the intercrystallin
e channel space. Amorphous phase formed upon milling was found to be c
atalytically inactive.
