Abstract
Titanium tetrachloride mediated addition of allyltrimethylsilane to al pha-diketone diketals ,6-dialkyl-2,5,7,10-tetraoxabicyclo[4.4.0]decane s) leads to 2,3-dialkyl-2,3-dialkyl-1,4-dioxanes with very high diaste reoselectivity involving an invertive (S(N)2-like) substitution.
