Abstract
In the title reactions, unrearranged products (Me(3)Si)(3)C[Si(CD3)(2) Y] usually predominate over their rearranged isomers (Me(3)Si)(2)C[Si( CD3)(2)Me](SiMe(2)Y), revealing the inadequacy of the simplest mechani stic picture in which the two bridged silicon centres in a methyl-brid ged cationic intermediate are equally available for attachment of a nu cleophile.
