F. Bodenan et al., LOW-TEMPERATURE MAGNETIC-STRUCTURE OF THE OLIVINE MN2SISE4, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 164(1-2), 1996, pp. 233-240
The low temperature magnetic structure of Mn2SiSe4 is shown to consist
of antiferromagnetically coupled planes of spins with an easy axis pa
rallel to the c-axis. A weak spontaneous magnetization and diffuse sca
ttering observed at T less than or equal to 66(2) K suggest that the s
pins are canted in a locally ordered manner. This spin configuration g
ives a new example of how B(II) moments may order within the B(2)AX(4)
(A = Si, Ge; X = O, S, Se) olivine structure.
