Kj. Smith et al., CHANGES OF VERRUCIFORM XANTHOMA IN AN HIV-1-DISEASE( PATIENT WITH DIFFUSE PSORIASIFORM SKIN), The American journal of dermatopathology, 17(2), 1995, pp. 185-188
Verruciform xanthoma occurs most commonly in the oral mucosa; however,
rare cutaneous lesions have been described. Although the pathogenesis
of this entity is not known, dysregulation of epithelial proliferatio
n and degenerative changes in the epithelium may explain the occurrenc
e of this lesion in association with inflammatory dermatoses, epitheli
al hamartomas, and epithelial dysplasia. We report an HIV-1+ patient w
ith diffuse psoriasiform skin lesions that showed histologic changes o
f verruciform xanthoma.
