We calculate in closed form the complete O(alpha(s)(2)) color-singlet
differential cross section for e(+)e(-) --> gamma --> psi(Q) + X scat
tering. The cross section reduces at high energies to a heavy quark fr
agmentation form. We find that the energy scale at which the approxima
ted fragmentation results become reliable exceeds the psi(Q) mass by m
ore than an order of magnitude. We also discuss the color-singlet mode
l's predictions for direct J/psi angular and energy distributions at C
LEO.
