Fractal geometry has found widespread applications in image processing
problems. One interesting fractal parameter is the fractal dimension
that characterizes the roughness of the image. Higher-order fractal di
mensions called multifractal dimensions are used to characterize the u
nderlying inhomogeneity of texture in an image. This note deals with t
he methods of estimating fractal and multifractal dimensions of gray-t
one digital images. Experimental results on texture images from the Br
odatz album are presented and discussed.
