TAXONOMIC NOTES ON THE YELLOW-THROATED MA RTEN MARTES FLAVIGULA

The taxonomy of yellow - throated marten Martes flavigula (Boddaert, 1 785) from Vietnam is analyzed. Two forms are noted in the mammalian fa una of this country, flavigula and indochinensis. The presence of an a lternative feature in the examined samples made it possible to disting uish three species of M. flavigula s. l., i. e. M. flavigula s. s. wit h the subspecies aterrima, flavigula, chrysospila and hainana, M. lasi otis with the subspecies indochinensis, penin sularis and lasiotis and M. gwatkinsi (the monotypic species). The superspecific category was used in this case. The distinguished species are considered as allospe cies.
