Viscous carrier fluids prepared with hydroxyethylcellulose can control
settling rate of gravels to reasonable limit to enable proper placeme
nt of gravels in deep wells. Carrier fluids are pseudoplastic in natur
e and follow power law. Settling rates are normally higher than those
predicted by Stoke's law. Effective viscosity reduction at the bottom
is possible by adding ammonium persulphate at surface itself.
