Poly(esteramide) resins have been prepared using non-traditional argem
one oil (Argemone maxicana) and dehydrated castor oil (DCO). These res
ins have been styrenated in varying poly(esteramide)/styrene ratio by
post-styrenation technique, using benzoyl peroxide as catalyst. Variou
s film properties of these styrenated resins, both air-dried and baked
, have been studied. It is found that poly(esteramide) prepared from a
bove mentioned oils can be styrenated in conventional manner and that,
the styrenation significantly improves air drying as well as performa
nce properties of the film.
