RADICAL IONS CHEMISTRY - RADICAL-CATION REACTIONS

The review deals with chemical reactions of radical cations. Only few examples are given. Intramolecular reactions of organic radical cation s are illustrated on carbon-carbon bond cleavage reactions. Intermolec ular reactions between radical cation and other molecule are illustrat ed on nucleophilic and pericyclic reactions, on radical cation reactio ns with free radicals and on radical cation-catalyzed chain oxygenatio n of olefins. The last chapter presents the reactions of radical catio ns formed on irradiated surfaces of semiconductors. On the basis of el ectron and/or hole transfer processes, new reaction mechanisms are dis cussed.
