Abstract
A DNA probe (UU33) complementary to the variable region of 16S rRNA of biovar T960 Ureaplasma urealyticum strains was developed after revers e transcriptase sequencing analysis of 16S rRNA, and was used in DNA/R NA hybridization experiments with clinical isolates. Sixty-seven out o f 88 clinical isolates gave positive hybridization results with the UU 33 probe. The probe correctly identified all T960 reference strains an d did not cross-hybridize to the control strains.
