Abstract
This paper explains the structural, technological, and physical princi ples for designing low-power lamps for the vacuum UV region. Glow and barrier discharges that emit the resonance lines of hydrogen, xenon, a nd krypton and the molecular continua of argon, krypton, and xenon are considered. The operational and energy characteristics of the lamps a re described.
