Abstract
The main stages in the development of tapes for magnetographic testing are described. The possibility of using new tapes in which the direct ion of magnetization of the working layer is perpendicular to the plan e of the tape is considered using a model of a surface dipole. It is s hown that such tapes enable the possibilities of the method to be exte nded.
