Jwl. Simpson et al., EVALUATION OF PARTIAL DISCHARGE DETECTION TECHNIQUES ON HYDRO-GENERATORS IN THE AUSTRALIAN SNOWY MOUNTAINS SCHEME TUMUT-1 CASE-STUDY, IEEE transactions on energy conversion, 10(1), 1995, pp. 18-24
An evaluation of partial discharge detection techniques used on the Un
it 3 hydro generator stator windings at Tumut 1 Power Station in the S
nowy Mountains Scheme of Australia is presented. Measurements were mad
e with an RF slot probe, Robinson ERA Model 5 detector, Ontario Hydro
PDA-H detector and a recently developed partial discharge site locatio
n (PDSL) system before and after removal of coils. Good agreement was
found between all methods with the PDSL system achieving high accuracy
in identifying individual high discharging coil sides.
