THE SPECTRUM AND TERM ANALYSIS OF CO-I

High-resolution spectra of neutral cobalt have been recorded by Fourie r transform spectrometry in the region 1745-33333 Angstrom (57300-3000 cm(-1)) with cobalt-neon and cobalt-argon hollow cathode lamps as sou rces. Most of the lines exhibit fully or partly resolved hyperfine str ucture, but the wavenumber uncertainty for the center of gravity of th e strongest lines is less than 0.002 cm(-1) of the previously listed e nergy levels of Co I, 300 have been revised and 22 discarded. In addit ion, 64 new levels have been found. Wavenumbers and classifications ar e given for 2442 Co I lines, 287 of which involve the new levels.
