Pg. Kaczmarek et al., AN ASSESSMENT OF INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE-STUDENT ADJUSTMENT, International journal for the advancement of counselling, 17(4), 1994, pp. 241-247
International students have realistic expectations about their adjustm
ent to college, however, they seem to experience a more difficult tran
sition than U.S. students. Scores on the Student Adaptation to College
Questionnaire for international and U.S. students are compared. The r
esults indicated that international students scored significantly lowe
r on the social and the institutional attachment and goal commitment s
ubscales. The Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire may have app
lications in targeting international student needs.
