L. Nickels, READING TOO LITTLE INTO READING - STRATEGIES IN THE REHABILITATION OFACQUIRED DYSLEXIA, European journal of disorders of communication, 30(1), 1995, pp. 37-50
This paper examines four recent therapy studies, two involving deep dy
slexic patients and two involving surface dyslexic patients. These stu
dies illustrate that remediation of aspects of acquired dyslexia can h
ave positive benefits for the patients concerned which often extend be
yond an improvement in reading aloud. It is argued that, although it m
ay not be immediately apparent, the remediation of acquired reading im
pairments (and even of reading aloud) can be of functional significanc
e for an aphasic subject.
