Angular distributions within the range 25-degrees-125-degrees are pres
ented for the O-16(gamma, p) reaction populating low-lying states in N
-15 at E(gamma) = 60 and 72 MeV. A comparison of the data with self-co
nsistent Hartree-Fock RPA calculations shows the importance of meson-e
xchange currents in the photon-absorption process.
