The equation of state of neutron matter is calculated by using the low
est-order constrained variational method and compared with the results
obtained by other methods. The modified Reid potential which contains
N-N and N-Delta interactions and fits the scattering data is used in
the neutron matter Hamiltonian. The explicit dependence of correlation
functions on spin, isospin, angular momentum, density and tenser oper
ators for all of the NN and N Delta channels as well as temperature is
taken into the account in our calculation. Free energy, effective mas
s, etc of neutron matter plus thermal and compression energies of nucl
ear matter are calculated. These results are compared with the recent
calculations which have been obtained by using other methods.
