Abstract
A penalty-Free photonic switching experiment at 2.5 Gbit/s using a gat e-array module of four semiconductor optical amplifiers, flip-chip-mou nted on a silicon motherboard and provided with highspeed electronic d rivers, is reported for the first time. Switching times shorter than 4 00 ps are obtained, allowing for guardbands as short as two bits betwe en consecutive cells.
