Abstract
Corn starch can be acylated on extrusion with succinic, maleic and pht halic anhydrides as well as with butane tetraioic dianhydride in the p resence of carbonate buffer. Such reaction mixtures containing 30% moi sture gave highly hydrophobic products of low or moderate water bindin g capacity.
