Am. Hassaan et al., COMPLEXES OF SOME METAL-IONS WITH A SCHIFF-BASE LIGAND DERIVED FROM ISATIN AND DELTA-AMINOPHENOL, Bulletin des Societes chimiques belges, 104(3), 1995, pp. 121-124
A series of new metal chelates of Ni(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Fe(III), Zn(
II), Cd(II) and La(III) with a Schiff base ligand formed by condensati
on of isatin with o-aminophenol have been synthesized and characterize
d via elemental analyses, infrared, electronic spectral data, proton n
uclear magnetic resonance spectra, conductivity and magnetic measureme
nts. Two types of complexes were isolated. The [M(IAP)2]nH2O complexes
in which two molecules of the ligand are coordinated to the central m
etal ion as bis-uninegative ONO tridentate forming electrolytic and no
n-electrolytic octahedral complexes. On the other hand, the dimeric [M
(IAP)ClH2O]2 complexes attain the octahedral structure owing to the br
idging nature of the ligand.
