Abstract
Decomposition of gamma-unsaturated substituted peroxides in a good hyd rogen donor solvent can lead to two diastereoisomeric oxetans. An intr amolecular 1,5 hydrogen shift followed by a cyclization may compete wi th the homolytic intramolecular substitution following the first addit ion step. The factors governing this never-reported competition are de termined.
