SBR vulcanizates filled with 13 rubber-grade carbon blacks were used t
o demonstrate that the curves of dynamic rubber properties, namely ela
stic modulus and loss tangent vs. filler loading can be superpose to a
single master curve by introduction of a shift factor f. The same had
been reported previously for static properties. Whereas the shift fac
tor for elastic modulus is mainly determined by carbon black structure
, the shift factor for tan delta is governed by interaggregate distanc
e which is related to the specific surface area of the carbon blacks.
Surface energy also plays an important role with regard to the shift f
actors due to its influence on filler-filler and polymer-filler intera
ction.
