Abstract
The presence of a dimethylsilylene unit at the 4-position of 5-phenylp ent-1-ene bichromophores induces high selectivity into their intramole cular meta photocycloadditions: the regiochemistry of addition is depe ndent on the substituent at the 2'-position of the benzene ring.
