Bg. Miller et J. Pylypa, THE DILEMMA OF MENTAL-HEALTH PARAPROFESSIONALS AT HOME, American Indian and Alaska native mental health research, 6(2), 1995, pp. 13-33
The use of community member paraprofessionals in the delivery of menta
l health services is complicated by the changing nature of the parapro
fessional's social relationships within the community. We use an anthr
opological model of Coast Salish social organization and data from a c
urrent delivery system, the Swinomish (Washington) Tribal Mental Healt
h Project, to suggest ways to conceptualize and account for such compl
ications.
