Interactions of small mammal communities of poplar windbreaks and adja
cent fields were studied in Eastern Slovakian Lowlands. There were cau
ght 10 species of 1931 small mammal individuals in both biotope types.
Small mammal communities were not very similar. There were found out
higher average relative densities and higher densities of species dive
rsity, equitability and higher number of species with constant occuran
ce in windbreaks than in fields. Dispersal of small mammal communities
in windbreaks was analysed in relation to distance from windbreaks. E
ctoparasite communities (ticks, mites and fleas) for dominant rodent s
pecies - Apodemus agrarius and Apodemus microps were compared in both
biotope types. Also changes of infestation in relation to distance fro
m windbreaks were analysed.
