Abstract
The direction of transcription of specific components of the fructose phosphotransferase system, the fruA, fruK, and fruB genes, was determi ned in vivo by plasmid Fts114lac. Transcription from each of these gen es was shown to run in the same direction, counterclockwise with respe ct to the E. coli chromosomal map.
