Abstract
A bioassay is developed for testing growth factors present in fungal e xtracts and acting on a consortium of cellulolytic bacteria produced i n a continuous anaerobic digester inoculated with rumen liquor and fed with carboxymethylcellulose. Fungal extracts stimulated overall bioma ss production of the cellulolytic bacterial consortium without changin g specific cellulolytic activity.
