Abstract
The p,T phase diagram od mercury telluride has been investigated up to 5.4 GPa and 1200K for the first time, by the energy dispersive powder X-ray diffraction method. Our results and analysis reconcile the appa rent contradictions which appear in previous reports using differentia l thermal analysis. The proposed p,T diagram shows a liquid-liquid pha se transition and a negative slope for the cinnabar-liquid melting cur ve.
