G. Majetich et R. Hicks, THE USE OF MICROWAVE-HEATING TO PROMOTE ORGANIC-REACTIONS, The Journal of microwave power and electromagnetic energy, 30(1), 1995, pp. 27-45
This study documents the usefulness of microwave heating for the prepa
ration of a wide variety of organic compounds using a commercial micro
waves system equipped with a built-in pressure unit and an external te
mperature monitoring device. The results of control experiments conduc
ted under conventional heating conditions are also provided for each r
eaction. Most of the reactions studied showed drastically reduced reac
tion times compared with conventional heating, due to the higher tempe
ratures attained. These results show that microwave heating is useful
for preparative organic chemistry.
