Abstract
The effects of basal media, growth regulators and gelling agents on th e morphogenetic response of eleven Cucumis melo L. var. reticulatus an d inodorus genotypes were examined. Regeneration was achieved from cul tured cotyledons of all genotypes and the morphogenic response was aff ected by the genetic background. Among the combination of factors test ed, MS basal medium supplemented with 2.8 mu M 6-benzyladenine (BA) an d 1.0 mu M abscisic acid (ABA) solidified with agar gave the highest f requency of shoot regeneration.
