Abstract
A new type of host is introduced: all-homocalixarenes. Phane syntheses leading to molecules which may be termed, in the most general sense, homocalixarenes, are outlined in a brief overview. The design, synthes is, conformations and host properties of all-homocalixarenes and all-h omocalixpyridines are described in detail.
