Abstract
The following criterion of multiplicity of steady states (m.s.s.) for the simplest model of an open heterogeneous catalytic system (monomole cular isomerization in CSTR) with an arbitrary isotherm was obtained i n this paper: theta + d theta/d<(mu)over bar> > 1 An explicit expressi on for bifurcation set in the plane of two generalized parameters of t he system has been derived. It was described the connection between fi rst-order phase transitions and m.s.s.
