Utilizing the superposition method, an accurate analytical type soluti
on is described for resolving the problem of free vibration of cantile
ver plates with rectangular orthotropy. A number of verification check
s performed to verify the mathematical procedure are described. Conver
gence is found to be rapid and eigenvalues are tabulated for a wide ra
nge of plate aspect ratios and a number of combinations of values of o
rthotropic parameters. Full delineation is made between symmetric and
antisymmetric modes. It is believed the tabulated results will prove u
seful to designers and provide a reference against which other researc
hers can compare their results.
