Abstract
The authors compare two 30-year-old Norway spruce stands for basic den sity fiber characteristics and properties of kraft and thermomechanica l pulp. One stand was on agricultural land and the other on forest lan d. The agricultural stand had a higher wood volume production per hect are but lower potential for pulp production. Stems from the agricultur al stand had the shortest and the widest fibers, the thinnest fiber ce lls walls, and the lowest basic density at a given annual ring width.
