Abstract
Common bacteria may be observed and cultured from the CSF. Recent tech nological breakthroughs have improved the detection of microbial produ cts bf physicochemical reactions, polymerase chain reaction, and antig enic techniques (specific indicators) or non specific reactions, The d iagnosis use and the limits of these techniques are reviewed.
