High-field proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1-NMR) spectroscopy wa
s applied to the analysis of nitroaromatics and nitramines in ammuniti
on waste water. The H-1-chemical shifts data of a variety of reference
compounds are presented. Three ground-water samples, taken near the f
ormer ammunition plant Elsnig (Saxony), were analysed by high-performa
nce liquid chromatography (HPLC) and by proton nuclear magnetic resona
nce spectroscopy. The results of HPLC and NMR analyses are compared an
d discussed.
