Abstract
The present study provides a model based on a dimensionless analysis t hat gives the basis for design of cross-flow ultrafiltration processes in the case of treatment of cutting oil emulsions. The model gives th e resistance of the polarization layer in terms of the pressure drop a cross the membrane, the velocity of the feed fluid in the membrane mod ule, the viscosity and the density of the emulsion. It is compared wit h a great number of experimental results obtained with SARELF A cuttin g oil emulsions. The model can be used for unit optimization.
