A preliminary study of the large collection of specimens belonging to
the family Lichenoporidae (Bryozoa, Cyclostomida) in the Museum Nation
al d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris) has allowed the identification of elev
en taxa, one of them determined only at the generic level. One of the
ten species is new to Science: Lichenopora aztiensis sp. nov. The stud
y of a large number of specimens has allowed to correct many mistaken
identities. So, the knowledge of the geographic distribution of the sp
ecies known in the Atlanto-Mediterranean and Boreal provinces has been
improved.
