Abstract
We present a model for second-harmonic generation in a two-dimensional array of quantum dots. We show that the combined effect of the electr omagnetic local field of the array and the intrinsic electronic resona nces that arise from spatial confinement in the quantum dot produces g reat enhancements of the second-order nonlinear susceptibilities, henc e giving a high efficiency of second-harmonic generation.
