Abstract
All optical frequency converters are key devices for new-conception op tical networks. A theoretical model is presented to evaluate performan ces of frequency converters based on highly nondegenerate four-wave mi xing (FWM) in semiconductor amplifiers. Conversion efficiency and nois e performances are evaluated in generic saturation conditions and comp ared with experimental results.
