Abstract
PURPOSE: We treated five patients who had ocular fungal infections wit h oral fluconazole to determine its safety and effectiveness. METHODS: We reviewed the case histories of the five patients. One patient had coccidioidomycosis and four had endogenous Candida endophthalmitis. RE SULTS: The intraocular fungal infection resolved in all patients. CONC LUSION: Fluconazole appears to be a safe and effective antifungal agen t that. can be administered orally and may be a useful agent for treat ing some intraocular fungal infections.
